Our vet dental services are an important part of keeping your pet well. Dental and gum disease are very painful for your pet. Also, oral bacteria and inflammation can affect many body systems including the heart and liver. To prevent problems occurring, or catch issues early, we recommend regular dental check-ups.
This doesn’t involve an extra visit to the surgery. Each time you see the vet for routine vaccinations and health checks, your pet’s mouth will be checked. However if you suspect your pet has a dental problem please make an appointment without delay.
Vet Dental Services
Signs of dental disease can include:
- bad breath
- discoloured or loose teeth
- bleeding from the mouth
- dropping food when trying to eat
It is interesting that loss of appetite rarely occurs and your pet often manages a way to hide the discomfort and continue eating. It is important that if you notice any of the listed signs that your pet is bought into the surgery for an appointment with the vet.
Our dedicated dental area has everything required to provide a comfortable environment for your pet. Our modern equipment provides hygienic, effective dental intervention. Don’t forget that if you’re a member of our Pet Health Plan you will receive 10% off all dental procedures.
For this, Hilltop Vets have a dedicated space for dental procedures. Generally, pets need a general anaesthetic for dental procedures and this is something you can discuss with one of the vets or nurses. The dental treatment can vary, so treatments are tailored to meet the individual requirements of your pet.

We also offer nurse dental clinics and can show you how to brush your pet’s teeth to help keep your pet’s mouth in good shape. Many pets will, at some time in their lives, need a little extra treatment, even with good oral hygiene at home.
